At Dorking Forest School rangers we can offer you an exciting education experience in a woodland setting, which offers an innovative approach to outdoor play and learning.

Our philosophy  is to encourage and inspire young children through an educational approach to outside play and learning. Children will have a variety of first hand experiences while at Forest Schoool.

Forest Schools is linked to the curriculum: it supports many areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage framework, the National Curriculum and the Every Child Matters agenda. Observations by the Forest Leaders allow them to tailor support to the children’s stage of development. We can offer a one off session for your class or sessions on a more regular basis. These sessions can be linked into your current topic and curriculum. Perhaps you have decided to focus on the topic ofKnights with knights with a focus on George and the dragon. Why not sign up for a session where we can reenact the story, build our own helicopter story, learn how to make swords bows and arrows using knots, make maiden headdresses, play hide and seek as we disguise ourselves in camoflage armour or work on some team building skills by building our own forts and castles. All of which will enhance their understanding of the topic in a meaningful and hands on way whilst strenthening practical, emotional, social and cognitive skills.

Our most popular session is 9:30am-2:30pm including all forest school activities and also includes a snack a and is £200. For a half day session it will cost £140.00. For a class of 30 I recommend 2 sessions, one in the morning from 9.00am until 11.30am and then from 12.30 until 3p. Two class TA's would need to join us for the sessions.

The full benefits of Forest School are developed over a period of time so we would expect you to sign up for a minimum of 6 weeks.
