May half term  Forest school camp 2017

                                 

                             

Come and join us on Wednesday 30th April for some May half term fun ithe woods from 9.30am  until 14.30pm. The camps are for children aged 5 -11  year old and are unaccompanied. Book fast  only 16 spaces available. £30.00 per child.

                                    All our sessions are designed for the children to have fun, explore and enquire                                         about the woodland environment. The children will also be encouraged to work                                       as a team choosing heir own tasks to build and safely manage our fire to toast                                       our fruit snack. We will be celebrating the wonderful fruit tree the                                                       elder.  There will be opportunities to carve your own

                                    Elder May Whistle try some yummy elderberry cordial

                                    or tea. Elderberries are known for their antioxidant                                                                          powers are therefore boost the immune systems.

                                                       

 

What will my child need to bring?

A named water bottle

Please see kit list for appropriate clothing

Food/drink: Hot chocolate, hot ribena and a healthy snack and lunch cooked on the campfire are included.

Toileting: A toilet tent and handwashing facilities will be put up

 

Where do I drop off and pick up my child?

Drop off and pick up point: Powell Corderoy Carpark

Drop off time: 9.30am

Pick up time : 14.30pm

 

To book a space please contact me on 07500 810 823 or email me at mimi@forestschoolrangers.co.uk with your preferred date, name and age of your child. I will then send you an information document and booking form to complete and invoice. All forms and payment must be received before the Friday 31st March to reserve your childs space. A confirmation will be sent once payment is received.

If I have to cancel due to adverse weather conditions I will offer an alternative date in december or in the new year.

Fees and booking

Our fees are competitive and designed to cover the costs running costs of Dorking Forest school rangers

 

All fees must be paid in advance of commencement of your child’s sessions.

 

We are Ofsted registered and can accept child care vouchers as payment.

 

We cannot accept a child at our Forest School sessions without a completed booking form. Your child’s place is not secure until we have received payment in full.

Terms and conditions

By booking with us you are agreeing to the following terms and conditions.

Dorking Forest school rangers holds full Public Liability Insurance with Birnbeck.  Please be aware that activities take place over rough natural ground and although we take every precaution to ensure safe play, accidents may occur. The Forest school leader holds a valid Forest school Paediatric qualification with Surrey 1st Aid, all volunteers are CRB/DBS checked and we risk assess our site and put boundaries in place to ensure a safe experience for the children.

Booking

To book a place you must complete a booking request form. Once you have received a proviosnla booking confirmation please ensure you pay within 48 hours from the time of receipt to secure your place. If we have not received payment within 24 hours we reserve the right to cancel your provisonal booking. Places will be allocated on a first come first serve basis.  Dorking Forest school rangers are committed to offering this wonderful experience to as many children as possible. If sessions become fully booked we will hold your request on a waiting list or offer you a place on another session with availability. If the number of children on our waiting list warrants we will start additional sessions to keep waiting children to a minimum.

 

Refunds & Cancellations

 

We will offer a refund if Dorking Forest school rangers have to cancel a session due to staff sickness. We are not able to offer a refund if your child cannot attend, however subject to availabilty we may be able to offer an alternative session.  Additionally for those who have booked a space during the school holidays and wish to cancel we will refund the total based on giving us 5 working days notice. If you wish to cancel after this time and upto 24 hours beforehand we will refund you if we are able to rebook the space. If you cancel 24 hours beforehand or on the actual day no refund will be granted.  

Weather

Please note we operate all year round & in most weather conditions however, Courses will not run if the Met office weather forecast shows a predicted wind speed (gust or continual speed) of 42mph or above for any part of the day. In these circumstances we will make a decision to cancel by 4pm on the previous day. We will inform parents/guardians by email and text using the information you supply at booking. We will also put a note on the home page of our website. If we cancel because of adverse weather you will be offered a day in lieu.

If unpredicted high winds, lightning or the likelihood of either develops over one of our sites during a session then we will evacuate the site immediately. In that instance we will contact you via the emergency numbers you give at booking and ask you to arrange to collect your child from the dropoff point. We do not offer refunds or days in lieue for cancellations due to lightning/high winds developing during the day.

Sickness

Please do not bring your child to attend forest school if he/she has been sick or has had diarrhoea within the previous 48 hours. We do wish your child a speedy recovery and we will happily offer another session at a later date. If your child has either of the symptoms whilst at forest school, we will call you so you can collect your child. 

Clothing

We cannot stress enough how important it is to dress your children according to the weather, so they can have a positive experience at forest school. We reserve the right to refuse entry and no refund will be granted if your child is not dressed correctly for a day in the forest. Please visit the kit list page. In the winter months the children need to be in layers of warm clothes, waterproof trousers and coats and snow boots or outdoor walking boots. Wellington boots are not ideal for the colder months especially if the children are with us all day. Their little feet will freeze, so please invest in warm socks and snow boots. www.mountainwarehouse.co.uk have good deals. Remember to name their hats, scarves and gloves. Please note that even if has not been raining, water proofs are essential during the winter months. If your child becomes uncomfortably cold throughout the session and has no additional layers to apply, we will call you and give you the option to deliver and dress your child in more layers or to collect your child from the setting. No refund will be granted. In the summer months the children need to be wearing long sleeved t-shirts, long light weight trousers, protective footwear (no open toe sandals or crocs) and a summer hat. Please also apply insect repellent and sun cream lotion to your child before the session starts.

 

Be prepared that your child will sometimes come home muddy and wet but they will have had a great day!

Behaviour

We reserve the right to remove your child from our premises if negative or unkind behaviour persists. A refund will not be granted and we reserve the right to withdraw your child from future lessons at Dorking Forest school rangers. We have a duty to protect all of our children and staff.

MOBILE TELEPHONES

We do not allow children to have mobile phones during our sessions unless this has been agreed in advance by parents with head office (see below under PHOTOGRAPHS). If your child brings a phone without permission then the leader will confiscate it and return it to you at the end of the session.

Food

Children attending our holiday camps need to bring their own packed lunch and at least two drinks please. We provide a hot choclate or tomotoe soup and a snack.

 

Nuts

We have a NO nut policy so please do not allow your children to bring ANY foods containing nuts. 


Insect repellent / Medication

Our staff are not authorised to give any medication to your child / children. 

In the summer months we do strongly advise to apply insect repellent and sun cream lotion to your child BEFORE the session starts. Our staff are not authorised to apply lotions so please ensure it is applied previously.

 

Drop off and Collection

We require your child to be on time and to be collected on time. Please contact us if you are running late for collection so we can reassure your child / children. A charge of £15 will be charged for every 30 minutes you are late.
